Intuition training | Embodied Alchemy |  Dream Actualization

A place where joy rises, hearts open, and life takes on its brightest hues. Let my words find you where you are.

I am still so embarrassed… I got off the plane all chirpy and excited to land in Munich for my first day of Rolfing Level 2 (I got a scholarship – hooray! I’ll be here the next month learning to become a bodyworker and the course so far is amazing!)

But then I opened my emails and realised I’d sent my brain dump to my whole database! 🙈 It felt like those dreams where you’re naked at school!

But then I had to laugh…

Because on the plane, I’d been rewriting that newsletter (which I thought was scheduled for Wednesday (let’s face it, I’m not great with dates!) to talk about my teacher Alva’s saying: “Everything is perfect, not always preferred.”

And how perfect yet not preferred that I’d sent that messy draft first to everyone I knew!

So let’s dive into this premise and why it’s been landing hard for me this week.

Last week was the completion of The Creativity Circle – an offering I run three times a year, where 22 participants master the creative process and finally create what they’ve been putting off.

Mid-week on Wednesday, we look at the “ick”: the tension, procrastination, and sometimes very physical challenges that show up when you make time for creativity.

One of the questions was: “What is it helpful to know right now, based on the premise that everything is perfect?”

What unfolded was profound…

“Not only did I learn my own personal process of creating, but more importantly, I began to understand how I can create in the most efficient, effective way that’s right for me. This is not only relevant to creating this week, but to all aspects of my life.” — Catherine, Creativity Circle 2025

Everything is perfect, but not always preferred.

This premise changed everything about how we were approaching creativity, because when we leaned into the resistance… firstly, it just didn’t hold the power anymore… but also, when we stop fighting it, we actually start learning from it.

We all had profound insights about how we create… I realised my creative method is to dance around the thing I am creating, throw everything at it (a bit like my brain dump brainstorm email)… almost like I am flirting with it… playing with it… and then once clarity lands, I go for it: bullseye straight to what I create, cutting out everything I don’t need.

Each participant made realisations, and we all finished up the week having created something beautiful.

And speaking of breaking through what’s “not preferred”, I’ve been learning about Mary Ellen Pleasant, who in the 1860s was called “The Mother of Human Rights in California.” She is said to be the first self-made African-American millionaire, identifying herself as “a capitalist by profession” in 1890.

Mary Ellen worked on the Underground Railroad, financially supported John Brown’s abolitionist work, and won several civil rights victories, including successfully suing to desegregate San Francisco’s streetcars after being ejected in 1866! She built her fortune whilst secretly funding abolition work, often portraying herself as a housekeeper whilst actually running massive business operations.

Talk about shattering glass ceilings!!! I would love to read/discover more about her!

Full Moon’s Journal to JOY Invitations: Breaking Through & Allowing It All to Exist

So as today’s Beaver Moon in Taurus is a full moon about communicating our breakthroughs and celebrating what we have built, I invite you to grab your Journal to JOY and reflect:

  • What is it helpful to know right now, based on the premise that everything is perfect?
  • What if your biggest block is actually pointing you toward your biggest breakthrough… and paving a path for others too?
  • What creative wins can you celebrate (even the imperfect ones)?

What if the magic is in allowing it all to exist?

The perfect and the not-preferred. The breakthroughs and the blocks. The polished and the messy brain dumps.

This Beaver Moon… let’s celebrate it all?
