The fast fashion industry’s heavy use of harmful dyes, and irresponsible sourcing contributes to marine pollution and the degradation of aquatic ecosystems. Maya Gandaia is committed to addressing this issue by prioritising the use of eco-friendly fabrics that are free from microplastics and hazardous chemicals. For every item sold, Maya Gandaia contribute to projects aimed at reducing marine debris and protecting marine biodiversity, aligning its practices with the principles of sustainable development for oceans, seas, and marine resources.
Maya Gandaia is committed to responsible consumption and production. Every piece we make is produced in small runs of 50 to 100 garments only… never more. We use only natural and bio-based fibres, produce through a fully traceable supply chain, and design every garment with its second life already in mind. Slow fashion is not a marketing line for us, but how we built the whole business from the beginning.
Unsustainable practices in the fashion industry, including irresponsible sourcing and deforestation, have led to significant biodiversity loss and land degradation. Maya Gandaia carefully select materials that are ethically sourced and environmentally responsible, ensuring minimal impact on terrestrial ecosystems.
